Corvette Run to Iola for Lunch
Oct 10, 2021 9:30 am
OCTOBER 10TH CORVETTE RUN

Run Organizers: Rick and Sally Northrop
Date: Sunday, October 10th, 2021

IMPORTANT: We have planned a beautiful and picturesque ride so we hope many of you are able to join us. This run replaces the run previously scheduled by us for October 16th, because Rick’s surgeon needed to change the date for Rick’s knee replacement to October 11th. So we are getting one last run in before the surgery.

Meet us at the Shell station off Hwy 29 next to Maplewood Meats for a departure time of 9:30 on Sunday, October 10th.

We will traverse the beautiful Wisconsin countryside with a lunch stop at the Iron Grille in Iola. A German Octoberfest All You Can Eat Buffet for $11.99 a person will be featured. Of course this does not include your choice of beverage. They will also have a Bloody Mary Bar available to us.

After lunch we will continue winding our way east through some gorgeous farm land and forested areas arriving back in Clintonville. At that time members may wish to leave “the pack” and venture home on your own, or remain with us until we reach the Green Bay area.

RSVPs are due to Rick Northrop at rbnort313@gmail.com by Tuesday October 5th, as we need to let the Iron Grille know how many people to expect so they have enough food and help to accommodate us.

Forgotten Fire Winery
Sep 24, 2021 2:00 pm
We will meet at Global Recognition, 980 Velp Ave, at 2pm, and leave at 2:15pm sharp.
Anyone interested in looking at anything in the Global Recognition showroom is welcome to come a little earlier. They will be clearing their lot for us for a photo opportunity as well.

The run to Forgotten Fire Winery will be via interstate 41. It is approximately 45min drive. The winery is about 1mile off the highway and well marked.
They have wine tasting that includes a glass to take home. And they have an outside patio area. I am working with them on a tour of their actual wine making area, and that looks promising.
I will need an RSVP by September 22nd please so that I can give a number to both the Winery and Global Recognition.
The winery offers a wine slushy on weekends but are willing to make a batch for us on Fri if there is enough interest. So please indicate if you would be interested in that also.
RSVP Jason at jasondellise@yahoo.com or text (920) 619-7682

Veterans Home Visit
Jun 14, 2021 11:00 am
Veterans Home visit

Monday, June l4th 11:00 am

In the past, members of our Corvette Club arrived and received a warm welcome from the Veterans and Staff of the Veterans home in Green Bay. Our members brought basic items for the Veterans such as soap, toilet paper, tooth paste; toiletries, books; etc. There are five female and 44 male veterans at this home.

Theresa from the Veterans home asked if we would show our cars again and join them for lunch. The date is June 14 (it is also Flag Day) and we will meet at Festival Foods on University Ave at 11:00 AM. The plan is to leave Festival Foods at 11:30 and drive approximately one mile to the Veterans Home. Theresa will again serve lunch of hamburgers, brats and other goodies at no charge to us.

The Club has been kind enough to provide us monies so that we will have flags to give to each Veteran and the corvette members can be holding the flags out their car windows as we drive over and upon arrival. During our lunch time together, we will present a flag to each veteran.

If possible but not required, please bring needed items as mentioned above. With our gifts and the joy of seeing our cars, we will put smiles on the faces of our Veterans.

RSVP to Russ at 920.655.0902 or russ.tapley@gmail.com

No Later Than June 9th for food planning.

Please join us for an Ice Cream and Cheese run on October 1st (rain date, October 2nd).
We have planned a great route heading south through the countryside, with our destination being the Pine River Dairy located just west of Manitowoc. The dairy is only open weekdays until 4:00, Saturday until 1:00 and is closed on Sundays. Thus, this run is taking place during the week.

During COVID they will allow only 10 people in the dairy at a time, but there is a nice little park across the street. Their cheese is delicious, and their Cedar Crest ice cream is only $.25 a scoop. So come prepared to enjoy ice cream AND come home with cheese. Depending on the weather you may want to bring a small cooler for your cheese purchase.

We will LEAVE the Shell station located at the intersection of 43/29 at 12:30 p.m.
We have planned a scenic route to the dairy, and for those of you who wish to remain until everyone is ready, we have planned a different scenic route back to Green Bay. Hope you can join us.

Lunch & Winery Run
Sep 27, 2020 10:30 am
Gary and Elizabeth Kelling are planning a run on Sunday, September 27th to The Lake House restaurant on Cedar Lake in Kiel for lunch and then continuing on to Solu Winery in Cascade to see the band Joe 2.0. If you have never seen them encourage you to join us. We will meet in the Shopko parking lot in DePere next to the BP Gas Station at 302 N. Broadway. We will meet at 10:30 and will leave at 10:45 AM sharp.

JOE 2.0 was founded by violinist Joseph Ketchum to see if a classically trained string quartet could play rock and pop music in a powerful way. JOE 2.0 is comprised of an electrified string quartet (2 Violins, Viola, and Cello), plus drums and the inimitable vocals of original "Cheap Trick" lead singer, Xeno.

JOE 2.0 uses painstakingly crafted analogue effects on the strings to emulate the sounds of
electric guitar, keyboards, bass, horns, and other things. JOE 2.0 blends these sounds with the natural sound of the strings, creating a rock/pop sound with a symphonic power to it. JOE 2.0 performs a wide variety of cover songs from many genres and eras.

They play a regular set, then play a rowdier set. Some of the songs are very pretty and intricate and elegant. Some of the songs are savage and raucous and loud. I would suggest bringing jackets and chairs if you want to social distance a bit more.

Please RSVP for the restaurant, by September 23rd.

Charity Car Cruise in Algoma
Sep 19, 2020 9:30 am
Looking for something to do for a good cause before heading to Door County for the day? Or are you coming to Von Stiehl winery to listen to the Fork in Road band? Consider coming to Algoma a little earlier for a charity ride on Saturday Sept. 19th for the Casey & Shayna Groessl family to help cover some of the cost from large medical expenses. These were incurred from their daughter Aubree’s being born with a severe congenital heart defect, which she unfortunately lost the battle to at the age of 3 last Friday.

Meet at Olson Fabrication(Shanty Days car cruise meeting spot) parking lot located at 1101 Perry St. Algoma, WI 54201 at 9:30am with anticipated leave time of 10am. We are asking $20 per vehicle donation with all proceeds going to the family. We will take about a 35 minute cruise before you have the option to park your car in downtown Algoma to partake in events in town or go about your day on your own time.

Any questions please call/text Marty LaFond at 920-255-0557 Thank You!!

Corvette Run with social distancing
Jul 30, 2020 11:00 am
Tony and Sally Steffen are planning a repeat of a run we did earlier this summer. It's this Thursday, July 30. Short notice, because we are dependent on the weather forecast.

We will travel a scenic, back road route to our destination at a County Park in Pella, Wi and enjoy a relaxing time for conversation while respecting social distancing guidelines.

The park has two covered shelters plus lots of shady areas. It has restrooms with flush toilets and a couple of marked trails to view the rapids and falls. Plan to bring your own lawn chairs and beverages plus your own lunch and/or snacks if you wish. Bring bug spray if you plan to walk the 1/4 mile or 1/2 mile trails.

We will stay at the park for an hour or two, depending on group concensus. On leaving the county park, we will travel to Shawano for an ice cream treat.

We will meet at Kwik Trip in Seymour at 10:45 am and leave at 11:00 am sharp.
Kwik Trip is located just past the closed Shopko Hometown store on Hwy 54. The address is 1020 Mainline Dr, Seymour if you want to use GPS.

We are hoping you can join us. No need to RSVP.

BLACK HILLS CORVETTE CLASSIC-Canceled
Jul 15, 2020
This event has been canceled.
For anyone that has signed up for the event they will be refunding your payment in the next week or so. For those that have made reservations at the Holiday Inn in Spearhead, SD they will issue a voucher to be used anytime or you can save your reservations for next year or if they reschedule the event for later this fall.

BLACK HILLS CORVETTE CLASSIC

There are 4 or 5 cars that are planning to take the “Black Hills Corvette Classic” trip to South Dakota next July 15th thru the 20th. We may combine the ride over the first day to Sioux Falls, SD with a group from the Appleton club or we may just drive the first day with our club alone (we’ll figure that out later). Any one interested should go onto the webite at https://www.blackhillscorvetteclassic.com/ to check out the events and get signed up if you plan on going. The site will still give you an idea on what is all involved with this event and all of the people I’ve talked to have said it was a great time and well worth the trip. You will be gone probably six days or more and total $$cost will be up there. Anyone that is planning on going should make their reservation in Spearfish, SD as soon as possible as I’ve been told the Convention Center Holiday Inn fills up fairly quickly. I’ve made the reservation for both Sioux Falls (Best Western) and Spearfish this week. Accommodation phone numbers are given on the Black Hills Corvette Classic web site. Your first choice if you want to stay at the main hotel is the Best Western in Soiux Falls, SD, 605-336-0650 and the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Spearfish, SD, 605-642-4683. Make your reservations as soon as you commit to going.

“ROLLING Charity RUN”
Saturday, May 2nd, 1:30 p.m.

Let’s all get together and DRIVE ‘EM!

INFORMATION:
Meet at the Aurora Health Care Center parking lot located at the intersection of 54/57 (east of the Shell station where we usually meet) for a 1:30 p.m. departure.
NO ONE gets out of their cars!
Leave the parking lot at 1:30 sharp.
This is a charity run. Think of it as if you were going on one of our dinner runs. As we circle the lot before leaving, you will have the opportunity to drop your donation in a bucket, and we will donate the proceeds to Paul’s Pantry in the name of Corvettes of the Bay.
The run will meander through Kewaunee County and last about an hour, so people don’t have to stop and pee. We will finish back at Aurora so everyone can go their separate ways.
Please bring some tape, as we will have a few signs for you to place inside the window of your car stating this as a “Charity Run”.

We look forward to seeing everyone:
even if, as Bette Midler sang, it is “From a Distance.”

Heads up! We have some new members, so be looking for different cars.

SO LET’S JUST DRIVE ‘EM!
